I really dont unterstand people who are trying to make money out of renting a freaking corridor student room in second hand.Hello !!! Its students you are referring to not f#¤%*g millionairies. There is a group of mostly chinese students who deal (better said do business) with student rooms.I will make sure that those individuals who are renting their rooms for more than 3500 SEK will be punished for that action.I am a laywer and i know well how thinks work in Sweden.I am therefore asking everybody here in the forum to boycott these students and not make deals with them.In that way, they will be forced to drop the rents to normal levels (if not SSSB original price,at least close enough).

I think you will achieve more by letting SSSB know about it Wink because given the shortage of accommodation in Stockholm, no one (me included) can afford any boycott as there are not enough places (at least for the long term Smiley so people have to pay whatever it is asked for any room and move from one place to another every few months because of this shortage.

I don't understand myself how this queuing system of SSSB hasn't been 'fixed' until recently (and now that they updated the statistics, it is easy to see how bad it got during 2011, hopefully, things will go down during this year and the incoming ones); it is not normal that you need an average of 450 days to rent a room in a corridor since that means that for newcomers... basically it is just unfeasible (and let's not talk about those who have almost 2000 queuing days Cheesy )

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, even though you think different. There is no such excuse for students to sublet rooms to other students (without SSSB license) and for much higher rental fee.Especially now that studying fees are introduced to new non-EU students, room shortage should not be an issue in the upcoming years. In Lappis, SSSB charges for a common corridor room monthly ca. 3100 kr.I know that several students (SSSB has already their names) asked for 4000-4500 kr for such rooms. My goal is that those people who make business with renting out their rooms, lose their right on student accomodation. In such way, they will feel in their own skin how hard it is to get a room in Sthlm, with monthly rents skyrocketed. Please feel comfortable to share your opinions with all of the forum. It cant be that i am the only person bothered by this fenomenon.Join us

1.First the situation will become better in coming years due 2 tuition fees. There is no issue with Nationality as people from all over the world are studying here. The rents of rooms are not uniform everywhere in stockholm .
2.Boycotting students or refusing subletting rooms is never any solution if SSSB stop people from subletting today there will be more than 50percent people without rooms.

3.There are 2 people living in one room instead of one, if there are rules then it should be applied to everythng.

4.There are people who are not students still they are living in student rooms ,is it not a violation?

5. What will people earn from 3-400kr if at the end SSSB fine it due 2 cleaning which is normal and costs more than 2000kr. One person has one room so the lawyer can calculate how much he can earn.?

6. The Que system is flawed but accommodation should be responsibility of university and students can talk to student union for this.

If Mr.Lawyer is free better help people who has issue which are far bigger than rooms, its not work of a lawyer keep your degree in ur suitcase as it is useless for this cause.

Freevoice is totally right
First SSSB has every right to take over the rooms from the people who are renting out their room for prices over its value
SSSB is an institution paying taxes to the government, so they cannot let people make money out of their room
A person who rents another person's room as second hand for 3500SEK while the actual price is 3000SEK, if he/she complains the first tenant to SSSB, SSSB will cancel the agreement of the room and has the right to sue the first tenant.
Besides SSSB, in Sweden if you are making a profit from anything, you have to declare it
The way to avoid this is not to make a contract which is not safe for the second tenant and also not legal
And actually, even without contract, it can be proved by money transaction between accounts
So 'freevoice', no need to be even a lawyer to put these people in trouble, all need to be done is to complain under the heading of "ill-gotten gains"
Anyway freevoice has started a good topic and hope it helps these people soon stop making money out of their room and rent  the rooms for not over its normal price.
For the people who may think that I don't have a room, I don't know what the situation is, I have a room and I had rented out my room in September last year when the demand was much more and i had asked for around 180 SEK LESS than its normal price

Thank you chinagirl and skrsnl for your thoughts.First i need to answer to chinagirl that i certainly have nothing against the chinese folk,in the contrary i would say that i have lots of friends from your lovely country. But i cant stay blind at the fact that 5 out of 7 people who put adds with ridiculous high rents here in the forum, are of chinese nationality.I also disagree with you when you are saying that people dont earn enough and these poor people might get fined by SSSB with 2000 kr etc.I think you are missing the point here. The reasons that are making someone to rent out his room should NOT be making a profit out of it,but having someone else paying his or her rent while they are away (home, vacation, travelling, doing practice outside of Sthlm).Or maybe a person who wants to move in together with his partner to a bigger appartment, etc. You are also wrong about the fine, because SSSB is hiring a cleaning company and they are not charging more than 1000 kr for a few hours, which is of course paid just once, not every month. With a quick calculation, someone who rents his room for 4000 kr and that for a whole semester, makes approximately 9000 kr.If we add there the fact that June and July are free of charge, then everybody understands easily about how much money we are talking here. This is unacceptable !!!
I am glad that skrsnl joined us and that finally people dare to say things freely.
I know for sure that many of you right now are angry with this situation but perhaps are afraid to write something here.Dont be !!! I was reading adds here after this topic was initiated and i am happy to see that some people took us in consideration and are now offering rooms with original SSSB rental fees, isnt that something to start from ? Feel free to join the conversation.Say by no mean this is not my business,i dont have time for this, cause its everybodys business.
